In 1976, we continued to offer our one and only Northwest Expedition as we began to call it, with twenty-six students and four additional leaders assisting us.
Upon our return home to Wyoming that fall, we moved to a new headquarters and home bordering the Teton Wilderness just north of Grand Teton National Park. For several years our log home became the setting for our end-of-summer slide shows before our students departed home. Designed by Mike on graph paper, this structure was the culmination of a life long dream. We heated our cabin with wood and skied in and out during the winter.
Our 1976 catalog featured Helen standing in front of Glacier Peak from Miner's Ridge in the Glacier Peak wilderness. For years, we have considered this wilderness one of our premier backcountry locations. Jeffrey Schneider, author of the hiking guide to the Pacific Crest Trail called this fifty-mile stretch of the famous trail to be the most scenic section between Canada and Mexico and he knew because he hiked the entire length twice!
